Currently all Artinfuser Studio servers are in maintenance mode. I did not get enough patrons to continue supporting rendering music in this project.

Exporting from Finale

Before exporting the MIDI from Finale

Before exporting the MIDI from Finale, confirm that that:

  • all the instruments have their correct names (Window - Score manager - Full name) and Device for each instrument is set to Garritan Instruments (Window - Score manager - Device). This will help you identify the tracks in Artinfuser Studio.
  • all the instruments are assigned to their respective playback sounds (MIDI/Audio - Reassign playback sounds). Verify your results (Window - Score Manager).
  • the correct articulations and dynamics are performed by Finale’s playback. This will increase the probability of getting the best results in Artinfuser Studio.

Always choose MIDI File Type 1 when exporting from Finale.

Please see the recommendations below to achieve the best results from the automatic performance. The techniques in green will be automatically exported from Finale, the techniques in yellow may require additional work, and the techniques in red cannot be exported.

Technique Recommendation
Tempo Exported automatically.
Pizzicato text Exported automatically.
Rhythmic feel Exported automatically (like 'swing' text) automatically.
Ornaments symbols Finale will export ornaments symbols automatically.
Appoggiatura, acciaccatura Exported automatically.
Arpeggio symbol Exported automatically.
Mute text Exported automatically.
Trill symbol Exported automatically.
Tremolo with next note Exported automatically as a trill.
Dynamics Exported automatically. Dynamics below pppp and above ffff will be exported as pppp and ffff respectively.
Drum set notation Exported automatically.
Sforzando (sf) text Exported automatically by adding two dynamic levels to the note (e.g. f instead of mp).
Accent symbol Exported automatically by adding one dynamic level to note (e.g. mf instead of mp).
Slurs Finale will export slurs, which will be converted to legato in Artinfuser Studio by default. There is an option to add legato transitions automatically even if there are no slurs present in the score. Please note that in Finale the last slurred note is a little shorter than normal.
Pedal Exported automatically.
Sul tasto text Exported automatically.
Tremolo symbol Exported automatically.
Crescendo / decrescendo Exported automatically.
Staccato, marcato, spiccato text Exported automatically.
Staccato dot It is possible to use a staccato dot symbol on a note that is not longer than a quarter. Finale will decrease its length by half. Slower tempos may need the quarter notes to be replaced by eighth notes followed by eighth rests. If longer notes are required to be played as a staccato, increase the "Auto staccato" parameter in the instrument configuration.
Divisi Finale will not export the divisi text, but if all the voices of an instrument have the same rhythm, they will be played by separate instruments. In order to have multiple voices with different rhythms played back by the same non-polyphonic instrument (other than Piano, Organ, percussion etc.) it is required to manually divide them into separate staves before exporting them from Finale.
Harmonics Finale will export harmonics as normal notes at the real pitch. Use may need to use the corresponding plugin: TG Tools - Harmonics tool.
Flutter tongue Finale cannot export the flutter tongue (frullato) technique text. By adding a tremolo to a note it will be exported as flutter tongue.
Sul ponticello, Dampened, Con sordino, Harp open harmonic Finale cannot export these technique texts. If this technique is needed, create a new staff, transfer the notes that require this technique and once imported to Artinfuser Studio the user will be able to select the correct instrument configuration. Do not forget to assign a dynamic to the transferred notes.
Tenuto Finale cannot export the tenuto symbol. It must be replaced with an accent symbol or a louder dynamic.
Glissando Finale will export the glissando symbols automatically, but this is not yet implemented in Artinfuser Studio. At the moment there is no way to achieve the glissando sound.

Advanced
