Short description: Old-fashioned, bittersweet, nostalgic. Rhythmic vitality, sensuous melancholy, sly charm and orchestral flair. Facade - first and only modernist work. Assimilated anglican anthems, jazz, and the music of Stravinsky, Sibelius, Ravel and Elgar. Fast moving score full of syncopation and cross-rhythm. Symphony 1 is reminiscent of Sibelius. Viola concerto: despite the common influence of jazz and of the music of Hindemith and Ravel, in its structure and romantic longing it owes much to the Elgar Cello Concerto. Slow worker, painstakingly perfectionist.

Only Walton has cello concerto, viola concerto, declamation with orchestra in this game. Britten songs can sound more simple, but some of them are in french. Walton does not have french performances in the game. I consider this to be a difficult island and would be glad to hear better suggestions. (Britten, Walton)
