Sergey Prokofiev RUS [1891-1953]
Group: National
Short description: Sardonic, quirky. Resembles Stravinsky. Uses satire in his music, although not as bitterly sarcastic as Shostakovich. Master of the orchestra, drama and dance. Entirely logical but not very predictable. Obeyed normal musical conventions, while allowing itself to jump off at tangents from time to time.

Scriabin is more phylosophycal, abstract, cosmic, less tonal.

Prokofiev is more rhythmic, tonal, closer to Stravisnky.

Only Prokofiev has opera, violin concerto, piano concerto. (Prokofiev, Scriabin)

Being one of the large 'ALL' islands, this one Still does not seem to be the most difficult, because modern composer differences sound more pronounced than for example Romantic. [All Modern]

Easy comparison of two russian composers: late romantic Glazunov and modern Prokofiev.

Glazunov sounds melodic, sweeping, dance.

Prokofiev sounds rhythmic, sardonic, modern, experimental.

Only Prokofiev has piano, vocal. (Glazunov, Prokofiev)

Only Borodin has piano song, string quartet in this game.

Only Prokofiev has solo piano, piano concerto, violin concerto, violin sonata, english vocal (Love for Three Oranges, Peter and the Wolf).

Prokofiev usually sounds energetic, quirky, but can also sound wide and atmospheric.

Borodin is generally more simple, folk, naive, sometimes eastern. (Borodin, Prokofiev)

Prokofiev sounds more contemporary than Bruckner, more rhythmic. (Bruckner, Prokofiev)
