Monroe kept a vigilant watch for new talents and published, among others, T.S. Eliot, Carl Sandburg, and Ezra Pound in the first editions of Poetry . Her personal work, initially, was influenced by the classical constructs of the nineteenth century, but evolved along with the modernist movement`s own growth pattern.
